COUNSELING

I work with people internationally who have experienced abusive relational dynamics at home, school, friendships, or work. As a Doctor in Depth Psychology, Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, and Board Certified Holistic Health Counselor, I weave together a blend of styles from my professional training in:

Somatic Experiencing®

Somatic Experiencing (SE™) is a method for resolving symptoms resulting from trauma and chronic stress. Created by Dr. Peter Levine, SE uses a psycho-biological approach that does not require a person to fully re-tell or re-live traumatic events. With an emphasis on the ‘felt sense’ of the body and instinctual responses, SE gently guides clients in a slow, supportive fashion, increasing tolerance for difficult sensations and emotions and often offering corrective experiences. SE is a client-centered approach focusing on the here and now. In the process of SE, clients learn to distinguish past experiences and perceptions from present circumstances. The process invites greater emotional and physical awareness, increases choice as well as personal responsibility, and emphasizes the healing power of co-regulation. SE often resets the nervous system, restores inner balance, and increases vitality and capacity to actively engage in life.

Depth Psychology

Depth Psychology offers insight into emotional conflicts and promotes understanding of inner and interpersonal processes. Depth Psychology is concerned with accessing knowledge via the individual’s or collective unconscious, thereby exploring what is beneath the symptom. Healing is associated with allowing what has been repressed, rejected, denied, or ignored to come forward so that the person can understand, explore its significance, and integrate it, allowing for a transformation in consciousness. Depth psychology draws on many therapeutic approaches, including dreamwork, mythology, psychology, shamanism, literature, and the arts.

For those interested in an integrative approach to health and wellness, we look at how all areas of life are connected. Common areas for counseling involve work, health, creativity, vision, purpose, and relationships. Counseling encourages inquiry and the development of awareness to serve as a reflective sounding board. Emphasis is on your present state and future potential with the aim of sustainable transformation. I’ll support you in making positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, preferences, and ancestral background. When appropriate, I might suggest medical tests provided by your general MD.
